Design description
Urban and architectural documentation regarding the spatial capacities for tourism development in the area of Oštra Peninsula (Oštra – Prevlaka Cape) was initiated and developed during the Homeland War, at the site of the former JNA military base as a tourism project aimed at enhancing the economic development of Konavle.
This peninsula located in the southernmost part of Konavle has for centuries been an area of strategic importance, rich in agricultural lands. Its southern part is the site of a great fortress dating back to the Napoleonic era.
In this natural environment, surrounded by the Adriatic, a unique tourism complex was planned, featuring a marina, different accommodations and a number of social, shopping, recreational and entertainment amenities.
Its added value is demonstrated by its seaside amenities, such as the marina, new beaches and recreational facilities in a natural and landscaped setting dotted with viewing points.
All of these amenities are connected with the neighbouring villages in Konavle, in particular Vitaljina and Đurinići and their version of rural tourism.
